Ice Cube Returns With New Album ‘Everythang’s Corrupt’
Ice Cube is back. The rap icon continues his legacy with Everythangs Corrupt, his first studio album in eight years.
From the politically-charged “Arrest the President” to the G-funk banger “That New Funkadelic,” O’Shea Jackson stays true to his gangsta roots on the 16 tracks, which include a lone collaboration with Too $hort (“Ain’t Got No Haters”).
“I try to be honest on my records. They do, don’t get me wrong, tend to lean towards West Coast hardcore hip-hop, but at the end of the day, I’m trying to just tell my truth as I see it,” Cube told Zane Lowe on Beats 1. “And nobody’s exempt on my records. You know, I talk about everybody, even myself. I think every pencil needs to be sharpened every now and then, so hopefully my record is a pencil sharpener.”
Everythangs Corrupt marks Cube’s 10th solo album and his first since 2010’s I Am the West. In addition to music, he is gearing up to shoot Last Friday, the long-awaited fourth installment in the Friday franchise.
