NEW ALBUM: Vusi Nova – Manyan Nyan

Vusi Nova sets the tone for the soundtrack of the ups and downs of love and life with his fourth studio effort “Manyan-Nyan”.

South Africa’s afro-soul high-priest, Vusi Nova, follows up on his 2016 South African Music Award-winning release “Naninina” with his fourth studio album “Manyan-Nyan”.
The 12-track album explores themes such as love in its various forms, religion, life and death. Vusi Nova opens “Manyan-Nyan” with “Nkosi Sihlangane” an uplifting prayer for unity amidst the chaos around us. From track 2, Vuzi Nova vocally soars and goes in-depth on the journey of love, which is paved with many obstacles and sorrows.

The highs are sky high while the lows are below sea level, this is typified in songs like the lead single, “Ndizakulinda”, a passionate anthem which will have Nova fans singing along at the top of their lungs at the next couple of live gigs and beyond.

The album closes with a cover of a Michael Jackson tune, “Gone Too Soon”, which provides a precursor to “As’phelelanga”, a song which celebrates the lives of iconic South African musicians and those who have changed the lives of South Africans for the greater. It is this song that rings the loudest especially considering the passing of musical giants such as Pro Kid and Aretha Franklin in the past fortnight.

Production:
Produced by Bongani Mahlaole, who guided Nova’s previous album. Mahlaole, through his work and arrangements, not only showcases Nova’s vocal prowess but also makes it feel like you’re listening to Vusi Nova live in concert.

Get In Your Feels:
In “Manyan-Nyan” (which is used to emphasize a statement in Xhosa – meaning for real) Vusi Nova keeps to his Xhosa roots, however, it doesn’t matter who you are or what language you do speak, we have all felt love or hurt at some point and as such, will find a song that musically resonates with you.
Features:
The album features the talented Vocal Highness, Kelly Khumalo; Afro-Soul King, Ntando; SA’s next boy band, 047; multi-award winning soul-stringer; Zahara as well praise-singer, Jessica Mabangeni.
