DJ Khaled Overcomes Fear of Flying With Help From Son “Asahd”
Inspired by his son (and celebrated record producer) Asahd, DJ Khaled hopped on a plane for the first time in 10 years Tuesday. In true Khaled fashion, the historic event was documented in great detail via his unparalleled Snapchat.
“I haven’t flown in 10 years,” Khaled told fans during the broadcast. “It’s the only fear I ever had in my life, flying on airplanes. They don’t want me to fly airplanes, so I went and got a private jet, a Global 5000. I’m fearless now. Tell they I said hi.”
Check out ripped footage of Khaled’s Snapchatted flight below. Khaled starts talking at the 3:43 mark.
Aviophobia—the fear of flying—affects roughly 6.5 percent of people in the U.S. According to a Chapman University survey cited by Quartz, about 15 percent of Americans have “at least some anxiety” about taking to the skies. Congrats to Khaled on conquering his fear and living his best life.
DJ Khaled is up for a number of MTV Video Music Awards this year. Tune in Sunday, preferably while several drinks deep at your local dive, to see if “I’m the One” and “Wild Thoughts” get the love they so clearly deserve.
