Muse’s Matt Bellamy is to turn his Shockwaves NME Award into an unlikely wedding present. The band picked up the award for Best Live Act at last night’s (February 28) ceremony in London, and the singer said he was planning to give their trophy to his mother ahead of March 1. “I’ve got a couple of NMEs on my mantlepiece. Glasvegas to play London club night

Glasvegas are due to play at London’s Year Zero club night next Friday (February 8) at Camden’s Barfly venue. The band, currently on their largest UK tour, release their new single, ‘It’s My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry’, on February 14. As well as a set from Glasvegas, the night will see live sets from Exit Calm and ex-Ambershades man Davey La. Year Zero DJs will play songs that have been released in either the past 12 months, or are set to be released within the next. has been called on to help out a troubled German football club. According to Reuters German football club KFC Uerdingen have sought the help of the Babyshambles singer in a bid to escape their escalating financial problems. The club, who play in one of Germany’s lower regional leagues, hope that an alliance with Doherty will boost sales. The singer was once a childhood fan of the club, his affiliation developing when he stayed on a British army base near the city of Krefeldas. The singer’s manager, Adrian Hunter, confirmed that the club have approached Doherty about calling at the stadium during the band’s European tour next week, indicating that the star would help out if he had the time.
