Hot on the heels of their Australian tour announcement, stadium conquerers Coldplay have announced a run of UK shows for next September, supported by the big man himself Jay-Z. Could we see him head down under as well?
Despite their divergent sounds (and fanbases?), frontman Chris Martin is rather chummy with the rap mogul. The pair collaborated on the track Beach Chair, and Martin was a vocal advocate for Jay-Z’s contentious Glastonbury headline slot. The pasty Brits and their high-flying friend are thinking big with these dates – even locking in London’s gargantuan Wembley Stadium. It’s not the first time Coldplay have chosen an eyebrow-raising support act, either. In July and August, they were accompanied around America by Brooklyn nu-waver Santogold.
